The Psychology of the Mind in Relation to the Abstract Body focuses on abstracting the body and bringing it down to its simplest form. For years I have been fascinated with the overall form of the body and the shapes and lines you can make with it through posing. With this in mind I did a series of silhouette photographs showcasing the body in poses that focus on how abstract the body can be. With all black silhouettes and bodies without heads I am removing the identity of the models to let the viewer not be distracted by who is being photographed and also to not let anything interrupt the shapes and forms created by the bodies. I am interested in how the audience views these bodies and how these human silhouettes can be seen differently from viewer to viewer. I took inspiration from the Rorschach test and how the audience’s perception of what they were viewing could vary.
